Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first album she released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her music online including her self-released single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it in conjunction with Rihanna. She was officially signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she performed with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video then released in September. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was made available with a video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times in the first 7 days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
